About TidyCalculator

We build clean, accurate calculators for the practical decisions people actually make — ordering topsoil, pouring concrete, planning for a growing puppy.

Why we exist

Most calculator sites on the web are bloated, ad-ridden, and designed to keep you scrolling rather than answer your question. That's the opposite of what a calculator should be.

A calculator is a tool. You come with a question, you leave with an answer. The math should be instant, the answer should be trustworthy, and nothing in between should get in your way. That's the entire product philosophy of TidyCalculator.

How we build our calculators

Every calculator on TidyCalculator is built around three principles:

  • Real formulas, not approximations. We source our calculation logic from industry standards — for construction materials, from contractor references and trade publications; for pet health, from peer-reviewed veterinary literature.
  • Transparent math. Every calculator page explains the formula it uses, along with the assumptions and caveats. If we're making an approximation, we say so.
  • Tool first, content second. The calculator is always above the fold. We don't bury the answer beneath ads or essays. The educational content below is there if you want it, but the tool is there first because that's why you came.

Who we are

TidyCalculator is built and maintained by a small editorial team focused on accuracy, clarity, and real-world usefulness. Our content is reviewed by subject matter experts where accuracy matters most — for example, our pet health calculators are reviewed by a licensed veterinarian.

We're not a large corporation, an AI content farm, or a venture-backed startup. We just care about getting the math right.

How we make money

TidyCalculator is free to use, with no sign-ups or paywalls. We support the site through:

  • Display advertising — unobtrusive ads that appear below the calculator, never above.
  • Affiliate partnerships — when we recommend products or services (gravel delivery, pet insurance, etc.), we may earn a commission if you purchase through our links. These are always clearly labeled as sponsored, and they never affect the accuracy of our calculations.

We'll never recommend a product we don't think is genuinely useful to the person using the calculator. If something feels out of place, it probably is — email us and we'll take it down.

Accuracy and limitations

Our calculators produce reliable estimates for planning purposes. They are not a substitute for professional advice in any specific situation. For large construction projects, consult a licensed contractor. For pet health questions, consult your veterinarian. For legal or financial decisions, consult the appropriate professional.

If you spot an error in any of our calculations, please let us know — we take accuracy seriously and will fix it promptly.
